My life is complete once again.

Cause torrents are back ON! Apprentice Season 3, Booksmarts vs. Streetsmarts, here we come! Me and my torrent partner in crime, Naemon will soon begin our torrential downloading as of 10.35PM Semenanjung time. Who will succeed who will fail? My hard drive (internal and external) will certainly fail...that's for sure. I've filled 80GBs worth of data. I've got tons of shows, some i haven't even begun to watch yet. But heck, that's why we have DVD burners...hee. :) Life is good. Woo-hoo!

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha

Well to all my muslim (and non-muslim yet still celebrating..) friends, Selamat Hari Raya! Hope you guys are having a good one. As some of you may know, my parents have been away on Haji (yes for the second time, and NO my dad doesn't become Haji Squared, lol) and i've had the house all to myself for a whole month now. And it's been a great experience. I've learned the value of responsibilty, the value of having maids which actually understand what you say when you say it (Cooper S key and Briefcase are two different things lah..), and the value of being able to turn the alarm on (security, not bedside) myself now. So yes, i've been out till late, but unfortunately, it's usually on business. So yeah, no fun there. Lol. But it's raya, and my parents and brother are in Mekah, and I hope their doing alright. My brother gives me a play by play report on their wellbeing on a daily basis, so Alhamdulillah, i think they're fine. On a side note, my...

An addition to the family.

I will leave this blog totally devoid of explanations. You guys do the expletives. Here's the addition to the family.

TNB. Total National Blackout.

It's been a memorable second week of January for me; even though the week is far from over. I've had:- The National Blackout, Lessons in Friendship, Lessons in Reciprocity and Lessons in Trust. However, for today's edition of the BLOG, i will furnish you, my fair readers, a chance to experience a world without electricity. Well, the National Blackout which occured yesterday at 1 pm (Semenanjung Time) was freaky. It reminded me of the same blackout which darkened our lives for 3 days in 1998. I didn't want to go through that again. I was getting news reports from all over, and some were saying that it might take up to a week to restore the power this time. And no one had any concrete information on how the whole event actually happened. What took place? Did someone blow up a relay station on purpose? Is the CEO of TNB going to be fired all over again? Am I going to go on for a week without electricity? You have no idea how dependent you are on electri...

It began with a single droplet from the sky..

Then the heavens opened up, and it poured like mad. And we wondered if any of them would actually make it. But they did. Albeit at a much later time then we had originally scheduled. But it was all good, since we stretched the meeting to waay later then we would normally have, had we met at our regular venue. I think yesterday was the most fruitful meeting i've had, ever. Ideas were just brazenly thrown around for good measure, and most of them were brilliant. I'm truly honoured to be surrounded by absolutely gifted individuals. Yeah, we laughed, we joked, and a friend is down with diarrhea today even (hope ur feeling better, u sure it was the kuah kacang?), but the synergy we had yesterday was just marvellous. Now all we need is a brown paper bag. Hmm... Me and Alan Me and Najah Me and Lin

Vorsprung Durch Technik

Hello. Today I will educate you on the importance of technology. And how it drives most people up the wall. I will begin today's blog with a description on the different types of people associated and affected by technology. Technocrats Technocrats are largely technocentric. They know every single nuance of a technology - from conception to the final finished product. They know what makes a gadget tick. They know how to NOT make it tick. They can bore you with details which can put you to sleep. The last time someone bored you to death this badly was in high school. During Physics. They seldom change their gadgets. They're favourite word is "upgrading". Not replacing. Avoid them at all costs. Gadget Freaks Ah, these are a different set of people altogether. These people are only interested in the coolest and latest technology available to mankind. They're the ones who can't live without bluetooth, wi-fi and pda's. How do you spot one of them? ...

Today I got a break from shooting photos. Pics courtesy of Najah. I love the way this place looks. So European. So gang. Kick ass time. Let's show the world what we're really made of. :)

My name is Jeff Kashiwa, and I'm a musical maestro

Well maybe not. I'm still me. But Kashiwa-san is one amazing performer. Thanks to a little chap named Chang? Chan? I am now totally hooked on this Japanese jazz artist. His style is so post-modernistic, it brings a chill to my spine everytime i spin track 2 (Voices) on his cd. It's truly the soundtrack for the yuppie generation. Some might argue it's a little too Coffee Bean or Starbucks-y, but honestly that's stereotyping his musical talent(s). And i'm not the only one to think he's got some talent. I have a friend who can attest to it too. Right? Anyway, for those of you who have known me for extended periods of time, you all know how obssessed i am with music. Yes it is a die hard passion which phases in and out of my life. Sometimes i go cookoo with recording and editing (with friends!), and other periods i'm just not bothered at all with what goes on in the world of music. It's a Third Place for me. A place outside of home and work. It...

Torrential

Just got back from Lop's. The rain was intense. I couldn't see anything further than 50 metres. It was pouring so hard a car spun in front of me on the NKVE. I was lucky to avoid the guy in time. The car was pummeled by a Waja and another car which looks suspiciously like a pumped up Proton Wira. The Rusa (the guy who spun) was pummeled into a sandwich. But i think he's alright. The car did NOT flip over. So yeah, that was freaky. Really freaky. Anyways, we had a great conversation. We cooked/boiled some Maggi Curry (well Khalid did all that, I just watched, hee) and watched some TV. We also tried Pepsi Fire and Pepsi Ice, which consequently, is nothing GREAT..lol. Pepsi Fire tasted like regular Pepsi, and Pepsi Ice, tasted like Colgate's Extra-White. Anyways, after a bout of Pepsi-mixing (red and blue really does make Purple..), we started cracking some dumb ass jokes, and insults for the better part of an hour, and decided (way too late) that it was time for us ...

Getting Together

Ako Mustapha, Douglas Lim, Elaine Daly and Julia Chuah. Now i remember how i got through those really cold nights in Melbourne. These four kept me company. Okay, I bet now many of you are wondering what am i yammering on about. Well for those of you in the know, the names i mentioned above, happen to be Malaysian actors - the yuppie generation. The english speaking ones. On TV. And they acted in one of the best shows ever produced in Malaysia. Getting Together. It's a TV show about four friends who got together after being separated by the tides of time, commitments and of course work. While it may be a little stereotyped at times (since it was produced during the F.R.I.E.N.D.S generation) there are certain episodes which definately shine above others. In fact, even the worst episodes are way better than all the junk produced by Malaysian television *combined!* these days. Ng Ping Ho *the producer/director* is a tinsel genius. I'm sure those few f...

I'm a Petrosexual.

The internet is such a mosh pit. It's comprised of many permutations and facets of our human psyche and imagination. We've got Pornsites, Hatesites, Confession booths, How to sites, and of course torrent sites. Which i sorely miss. I wish tvtorrents and suprnova were back. Will resume this blog later on tonite. Need to go for coffee. With people. Not of the internet. Lol. Oh, and anyone care to explain what a Petrosexual means? :)

Out of respect for the people who have lost their lives in the tragedy which has befallen them and their families, we have decided to spend this new year's with a modicum of respect. None of us went partying. We had a late dinner, talked about our new year's resolutions, reflected on what has happened to us in the past few years, looked at old vids and photos, and hope that 2005 will be a great one. The funny thing was, I never thought i was going to do anything for new year's. I was intent and content spending new year's on my bed counting the minutes before my eyes shut me to sleep. Before midnight. But I had friends who decided they were just as bored as i was, and we decided that it's better to be bored together than to duke it out alone. Well it was definately far from boring. To me at least. I learned a lot of things in the transitory moments between 2004 and 2005. I now know what ISO on my SLR means...lol. White balance...etc. Anyways, enou...

Surviving Christmas

For the first time in my life i ended working on a public holiday. It was horrid. I worked for more than 16 hours. I have blisters in places i never knew existed, my thumb is the size of fucking palm tree and i feel fatigue like i've never felt before. But i feel refreshed. Funnily enough. It's a stark realization that eventhough it sucks to be working so hard when everybody else is on holiday, it's also a refreshing change. It's 12.43pm and i just got home. I never saw the outside of the building since 9 am in the morning. I never saw sleet, rain or hail for the whole time. We had ciggie breaks in between and i had a chat with one of the girls (who i have to say is the most UNDERDRESSED person i have seen in my life..lol) who was around us at the time. That's pretty much it. For those of you who came and gave me support today, I am overwhelmingly greatful and humbled. I am surrounded by truly amazing individuals. All of which i am proud to say are friends ...

Rubina, it's been a wild ride.

It's been an empty, blogless space for a while now. For those of you in the know, i've been going through some rather abrupt changes. And it has taken up most of my time. Events which deserve blog space was left on the dust ridden altar, to be picked away slowly, by ghostly tales of the forgotten. I've gone through a forced period of existentialism. The who am I's and who are you's and why are why put on this earth questions. I am on a cliff, and all i see are clouds which foreshadow the plains. It is an infinite expanse of space, in a wholly finite world. I have no idea what the future brings, or what the new year entails; but a part of me (the adventurous part) is tugging at the chains and is ready to jump at the chance . Another part of me misses the comfortable and the familiar. The part of me which wakes up in the morning and wonder how things were so easily taken for granted. In a whirlwind of events which has occured to me this year, i have finally fou...

Pigs in a blanket.

Syawal's almost over, the year has less than a month of life in it left, and god willing another year will be blessed upon all of us next year. I won't start summarizing the year in advance though, it still has 29 or so days in it left. So far, it's been an interesting year - to say the least. I've learned ten important life lessons so far. 1. If you really want something, wait for it, don't settle for anything lesser. 2. The friends who are with you through thick and thin, can't be chosen or forced upon. 3. I need to read through the lines a lot more. 4. Flexibilty is a double edged sword. It is a boon & a bane all at the same time. 5. Never assume. It really does make an ASS of U and ME. 6. Assertion is an important aspect of decision making. 7. Nothing will ever remain as it is. People change, events change, YOU change. 8. Bad months - they really do exist! Lol. 9. Forgiveness isn't a four letter word expression. Tr...

Love, Opus and ILTs.

What an interesting day i had today. A reunion of old friends and tales, a day of solace and support, and full of laughter. It's been a while since i laughed this hard - and i can't remember when was the last time i actually cried while laughing. I just couldn't stop giggling. Tall tales over taller glasses of ILTs and OJs and CCs. It was a day of confession(s) on many levels. A whirlwind of events. Overwhelming beyond a shadow of doubt. Lunch was just sublime. I haven't had a conversation like that for a while now. They actually turned the fan off on us! I can't bloody believe they did that! We just kept on talking like there was no tomorrow. Thank you so much for your presence, you know who you are and i am eternally greatful for your friendship. :) It didn't end there. The evening was just as exciting. Two old friends who are back for the holidays really made me smile from ear to ear. I haven't laughed so hard in so long. We just kept on laughi...

I was listening to some old tunes we did. Oh man, how i miss those times. The band was magnificent. We had so much energy... It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. But it was sure one hell of a ride. ....if it'll be the same again? Or is it me that's changed? I've been around for untold times.... Keep holding on, telling me to be kind.... I feel alive but i'm dead inside...... This is what pushes me...(more than anything else..) "What Pushes Me" downsyn3, 2002. the last song we played together.

Minutes.Hours.Days.

How happy is the blameless vessel's lot, The world forgetting by the world forgot, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Each prayer accepted and each wish resigned.
